Rules for reviewing articles

Rules for reviewing articles

1.

At least two independent reviewers are appointed to evaluate papers. They are in no other way related to the publisher and are experts in fields in which the paper falls in. Papers submitted for sections: I. Studies and II. Materials and Analyses are subject to peer-review. The list of reviewers of the current volume is published on the editorial page of the journal and on the website of the Studia Lednickie.

2.

In the case of papers in a foreign language, at least one of the reviewers is affiliated with a foreign institution other than the institution of the author of the paper.

3.

The author of the reviewed paper and the reviewers do not know their identities (we apply the double-blind review process) until the publication of the paper. The reviewers evaluate the papers on the basis of the content regardless of ethnic background, sex, sexual orientation, citizenship, religious beliefs or political opinions of the authors.

4.

The review is provided in a written form (completed review form) and ends with a clear conclusion as to the admission of the article for publication or its rejection. On the basis of the evaluation, the Editorial Board decides upon the rejection, acceptance or sending the paper back to the Author in order to make corrections (the editors may also consult the Scientific Council).

5.

The reviewer is obliged to keep all information related to the evaluated paper confidential.

6.

The reviewer shall give immediate notification to the Editorial Board about copyright infringements and plagiarism committed by the Author of the evaluated paper.

7.

The reviewer who feels incompetent to evaluate a particular paper shall inform the Editorial Board about this fact.

8.

The author of the article accepted for publication should, within the deadline set by the Editorial Board, respond to the content of the review, i.e., make suggested corrections or explain in writing why he or she did not consider the reviewers’ comments.

9.

The content of the review is made known only to the author of the paper. Reviews and typescripts of the papers are archived and stored in the Archive of the Museum of the First Piasts at Lednica.

10.

The principles for accepting papers for publication or their rejecting and the review form are publicly available on the journal’s website.

11.

The final decision to accept a paper for publication rests solely with the Editorial Board.
